Believing In Myself Built My Kaftan Business

In any business venture or job, self-doubt pops up now and again, but the trick is not letting that self-doubt hold you back from achieving your goals.

Starting my kaftan business wasn’t about simply finding a way to make money; it was to follow my passion, to be creative and for me to have the freedom to grow my business around my life and my children.

So how did I do it?

i ALLURE is the creation of a very passionate, summer-loving mum.

Me. Christie-Ann Williams.

i ALLURE was born after traveling to Vanuatu and buying a fabulous silk kaftan. I found it to be so comfortable, elegant and versatile to wear – not to mention fantastic to pack and travel with.

How I started my kaftan business

My previous work was based abroad in Asia in a corporate environment – which was thoroughly exciting. The change from the corporate world to becoming a mum of two young boys (double trouble) after such a challenging career was a tricky transition for me. I knew that I needed more in my life, yet I didn’t want to return to the chaotic corporate world.

I realised that I was in the ideal position to do something totally different; to use the capital I had built up to invest in my passion – something  I could call my own. I wanted to spend time at home with my children while being creative, and starting my kaftan business has given me the best of both worlds. It allows me to share my love for kaftans with women around the world while learning about the challenges and rewards of running a business.

All you need is self confidence and self-belief

I truly believe that women are capable of great things, but sometimes it isn’t the right time. The trick is knowing you can do it; and use your inner belief, self-confidence and desire in your business venture to succeed. In any business venture or job, self-doubt pops up now and again, but the trick is not letting that self-doubt hold you back from achieving your goals.

While I have a bursting passion for design, I don’t have formal training in this area.

But I’ll let you in on a secret, if you believe you are capable and know how to source the right talent for the right job, you can do anything in business.

Creating my own online business and fashion label was a complete challenge, but believing in myself, coupled with the desire and passion to learn, was all I needed.

I am now addicted to kaftans and my business but more importantly, in making women look and feel fabulous. Whether it’s in a kaftan or in their own skin.

I guess that’s why I’m known as the Kaftan Queen!

  • So beautifully said and from the heart too. As I was reading your story I couldn’t stop grinning and nodding knowingly. It seems we have very similar stories and have even ended up in kinda the same place. How lovely. All the very best Christie-Ann. Here’s to your success and what makes you happy. Ax
