DIARY: Interior addiction, deep sea diving and leading ladies

It’s been a massive week here at Woman.com.au with over 100 new Facebook fans and a new Linkedin Group to reach out to all our readers. It also felt great to share our story of how Woman.com.au came to be. Now that you’ve met us, feel free to drop by, say hello and join in the conversation.

Blogger Series

This week’s top blogger pick was Jen Bishop of  Interior’s Addict. Jen shared some of the lessons she learnt on her way to building a popular interior design blog with over 25,000 readers per month in less than two years. We hope you enjoyed the interview as much as we did.

If you missed the interview, you can read it here.

Diving with Sue Austin in a wheelchair

We were moved by the inspiring and upbeat words of Sue Austin who tells of her adventure in the deep sea with her wheelchair. In repurposing her wheelchair to create fantastical art, Sue Austin reshapes how we think about disability.

If she can do it, we can do it anything.  Watch the video here.

Leading Ladies: 2013 Australian of the Year

It’s great to see fantastic women being recognised for their achievements and contribution to Australia. The winner will be announced on 25 January. In the mean time, we feature the female finalists here.

Go See

We teased you with the soft-as-powder, white-as-snow beach sand of Boracay in the Philippines. It is truly a hidden paradise. See it before the rest of Australia does! Check it out.

Then we featured the whimsical Yellow Treehouse which you’ll find only Warkworth, north of New Zealand. Gotta see it to believe it.

Blooper of the week

OK. We messed up. The Agenda – our curated calendar of what’s on around town – has gone AWOL. We’re working hard to get it back up and running next week!

Next week, look forward to…

  • An awesome competition just in time for the summer heat
  • A great interview with someone who LOVES cakes. She’s not quite Nigella but she may as well be
  • A feature with a fantastic lady with great ideas on how to connect kids with nature
  • And for our Go See series, we take you to a fantastical place you didn’t know exists!

So stay tuned and have a great weekend!
