Review: Play Brow And Lash Bar

I was excited to join Play Brow & Lash Bar to celebrate the opening of their second location in North Melbourne’s Peel Street – perfectly positioned within walking distance to the Queen Victoria Market precinct and situated within the Take Off Skin & Body space.

Whilst painted nails and preening are personal grooming staples before any event, this time I was forced to make an exception. I resisted the urge to pluck any stray eyebrow hairs during the week preceding this event, venturing way out of my comfort zone and leaving my brows alone, much to the delight of the highly skilled staff member who worked her magic on me.

Play Brow and Lash Bar

My therapist (who trained in India where ‘threading’ is the method of choice for grooming elegant brows) first consulted with me, offering a mirror to ensure she achieved the brow thickness and shape to my satisfaction. She then carefully selected individual brow hairs (or rows of them, when required) and removed them at the follicle using a twisting motion of cotton thread. Within just a few minutes my brows were all preened and perfect.

The brainchild of serial entrepreneur Jessica Brown, Play Brow & Lash Bar also offer beauty treatments and a range of Australian-made, animal-friendly beauty products (some approved by Choose Cruelty Free).

Originally from New Zealand, gorgeous Jessica, who has spent time working in both the Middle East and USA, welcomed guests to her newest space together with the equally fabulous Erin Laird who runs the Take Off Skin and Body salon, with champagne and delicious strawberry-iced mini cupcakes. Ladies were treated to complimentary mini manicures and brow threading throughout the evening.

So, if luscious lashes, beautiful brows or magnificent manicures are your love, a visit to Play Brow & Lash Bar is a must.

Mention this article for a delightful $30 off a full set of lash extensions and/or $15 off treatments on the Take Off Skin and Body menu until 30th September 2013. Call Liana on 9326 6894  or email [email protected].
